DALLAS, March 1 (UPI) -- The Dallas Stars Monday signed forward Steve Ott to a four-year contract extension worth $11.8 million, the team said.
Ott, who is in the final season of a two-year deal, will collect $2.8 million per season through 2013-14 under the terms of the new deal.
"I'm pretty excited to get this done," Ott said. "It was pretty nerve-racking the last few months to not know if I was going to be traded or stay here. The commitment that the team has shown me is definitely a great feeling."
Ott, 27, is a former Stars first-round draft pick. He has 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 52 games so far this season. In the 2008-09 season, he established career highs of 19 goals and 46 points in 64 games.
