COL BKB: Temple 65, La Salle 53

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Juan Fernandez scored 23 points, including 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, to power No. 18 Temple to a 65-53 win over La Salle.

The Owls (24-5, 12-2 A-10) used a second-half surge to post the win and gain a tie with Xavier for the Atlantic Ten Conference lead.

Lavoy Allen connected for 17 points and grabbed a game-high 21 boards while Michael Eric chipped in with 10 points in Temple's win.

Rodney Green led the Explorers (11-17, 3-11) with 21 points while Jerrell Williams contributed 17 and Aaric Murray added 10.
