Olympic Medal: W Alpine Giant Slalom

WHISTLER, British Columbia, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany won the Olympic gold medal Thursday in the women's giant slalom.

The second run of the event was postponed from Wednesday, when a thick fog shrouded the course.

Rebensburg rallied from sixth place after the first run to win the event by .04 of a second over silver medalist Tina Maze of Slovenia. The bronze went to first-run leader Elisabeth Goergl of Austria.

American Julie Mancuso, who was 18th after the first run, moved up to eighth with what was the third best performance on the second run.
