Top-seeded Haas out at Delray Beach

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Teimuraz Gabashvili of Russia upset top-seeded Tommy Haas of Germany Monday in first-round action at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.

Gabashvili beat Haas 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.

Fifth-seeded Evgeny Korolev of Kazakhstan -- the runner-up at Delray Beach, Fla., in 2009 -- eliminated Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 and Wayne Odesnik of the United States ousted American Rajeev Ram 6-3, 6-2.

The winner of the tournament will earn $75,700.
