Canada took a 5-2 lead through seven ends and held on to stay unbeaten in seven matches.

Even if the Canadians lose their last two round-robin matches against China and the United States, they can do no worse than finish tied for first at the end of the preliminary tournament.

The top four teams reach the semifinals.

Norway was in second place at 5-2 despite losing Sunday to Sweden. The Swedes scored a point in each of the last two ends for an 8-7 victory that dramatically improved their chances of reaching the medal round.

Britain, Switzerland and Sweden are all at 4-3. Britain defeated the United States Sunday 4-2. Denmark downed Germany in the other men's match 9-5.

The Germans dropped to 4-3 and they likely will have to defeat China and Britain in their final two matches to have a chance at the semifinals.
