DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Kyle Singler scored 25 points and Nolan Smith added 23 Sunday to pace No. 6 Duke to a 67-55 triumph over Virginia Tech.
Singler pulled down 10 rebounds, Smith went 8-of-11 at the free-throw line and Brian Zoubek was dominant on the defensive boards, grabbing 16 rebounds as the Blue Devils (23-4, 11-2 ACC) won their sixth in a row and remained undefeated at home at 15-0.
Jon Scheyer didn't hurt his standing as a strong candidate for ACC Player of the Year, chipping in with 15 points and distributing seven assists in Duke's win. The Blue Devils used a tough defense to hold Virginia Tech to 32.8 percent shooting from the field.
Malcolm Delaney led the Hokies (21-5, 8-4 ACC) with 19 points in the loss, which snapped their five-game winning streak and put a serious crimp in their hopes for an ACC regular-season crown.
Dorenzo Hudson chipped in with 12 points as Virginia Tech could manage only 2-for-15 shooting from beyond the arc.
