Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PHOENIX, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Amare Stoudemire -- still on the Suns after the trading deadline -- connected for 22 points Friday to pace Phoenix to an 88-80 verdict over Atlanta.
Widely thought to be on the trading block, Stoudemire instead remained with the Suns, and his presence was key for Phoenix's victory. He pulled down eight rebounds, complementing Grant Hill's 16 points and 12 points from Robin Lopez.
Atlanta tied the game 70-70 a minute into the final quarter on back-to-back baskets by Al Horford, but the Suns responded with a 13-0 run, which included five points from Louis Amundson, to go up 83-70 with less than seven minutes to play.
Atlanta got 21 points from Josh Smith while Joe Johnson chipped in with 19 points in the defeat.
