Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and Jason Kidd added eight down the stretch Friday to power the Dallas Mavericks to a 95-85 victory over Orlando.
Newly acquired Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood also played key roles in the win, adding 16 and 15 points, respectively, in their second games for the Mavericks.
Kidd dished off eight assists and Jason Terry contributed 16 points off the bench for Dallas, which went on a 19-0 fourth quarter run to erase an 11-point deficit -- a stretch capped by Kidd's jumper.
Dwight Howard contributed 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Orlando, which also got 16 points each from Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson in the loss.
