
MARANA, Ariz., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Four Europeans, led by Briton Paul Casey, advanced to the quarterfinals of the WCG-Accenture Match Play Championship Friday at Marana, Ariz.
Casey, who held the No. 2 seed in the Sam Snead bracket, won his third straight match, downing Brian Gay 5 & 4 to move on. He will now face the only remaining American golfer of the eight quarterfinalists, reigning British Open champion Stewart Cink.
Cink had to go an extra hole to down South African Charl Schwartzel in the Sam Snead bracket.
In the Bobby Jones bracket, Ian Poulter defeated Jeev Milkha Singh and Thongchai Jaidee dispatched Ryo Ishikawa. Poulter and Jaidee will face off in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia bested Tim Clark and Oliver Wilson prevailed over Briton Luke Donald to emerge victorious in the Ben Hogan bracket.
And in the Gary Player bracket, Retief Goosen posted a win over Nick Watney and Camilo Villegas downed Ben Crane to survive into the quarters.
