LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Ashley Hamilton scored 17 points and Drew Viney added 16 Thursday as Loyola Marymount shocked No. 9 Gonzaga 74-66.
Larry Davis chipped in with 12 points, Kevin Young added 11 and Jarred DuBois contributed 10 as the Lions (14-13, 5-6 WCC) notched their first win against a ranked opponent since the 1990 NCAA Tournament, losing 35 straight games against such foes since then.
After trailing much of the first half, LMU took the lead on a DuBois-pointer at 48-45 six minutes into the second half. The Lions never trailed after that, using a Viney jump shot to widen their edge to 60-51 with 8:12 left in the game.
Gonzaga (21-5, 9-2) got 13 points and 11 rebounds from Elias Harris and 11 each from Demetri Goodson and Steven Gray in the loss, which snapped the Bulldogs' four-game winning streak.
