Zakopalova reaches Bogota quarterfinals

BOGOTA, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- No. 7 seed Czech Klara Zakopalova battled back Thursday and posted a second-round win at the Copa Colsanitas tennis tournament in Colombia.

After decisively losing the first set against Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva, Zakopalova rebounded and won 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Bogota's clay courts. That set up a duel with Colombian home crowd favorite Mariana Duque Marino in Friday's quarterfinals.

Duque Marino made the cut Thursday by outlasting Ukrainian qualifier Khrystyna Antoniychuk, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (12-10).

Also in Copa Colsanitas action, France's Pauline Parmentier defeated Colombian wild card Catalina Castano 6-2, 6-4.

Top-seeded Argentine Gisela Dulko will go up against No. 6 seed Sandra Zahlavova of the Czech Republic in one of the other quarterfinal matches. In the other contests, No. 3 Italian Sara Errani will play No. 8 Spaniard Arantxa Parra Santonja while fifth-seeded German Angelique Kerber against will play Parmentier.
