Ricker wins snowboard cross gold

WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Maelle Ricker of Canada won the Olympic gold medal Tuesday in women's snowboarding cross.

Deborah Anthonioz of France took the silver and Olivia Nobs of Switzerland captured the bronze.

American Lindsey Jacobellis, who cost herself the gold medal four years ago when she fell while attempting to do an unnecessary trick over one of the final jumps, crashed out of her semifinal heat and failed to make the finals.
