Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Malcolm Delaney poured in 31 points and Dorenzo Hudson added 21 Tuesday to boost Virginia Tech to an 87-83 victory over No. 25 Wake Forest.
Delaney got 21 of his points in the first half and then buried a key 3-pointer with 3:03 to go to give the Hokies (21-4, 8-3 ACC) a 78-74 lead and blunt a late Wake Forest charge.
J.T. Thompson contributed 16 points in the win, in which Hudson connected on a foul shot with 16.6 left to give Virginia Tech a four-point lead and the game.
Al-Farouq Aminu led the Demon Deacons (18-6, 8-4) with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while L.D. Williams contributed 19 points and Ishmael Smith added 18 points and eight assists in the loss, which snapped a four-game winning streak.
