Johnson repeats as Pebble Beach champion

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Dustin Johnson's 4-foot birdie putt on the last hole Sunday enabled him to repeat as AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am champion.

Johnson won his second Pebble Beach title in two years by registering a 2-over 74 round to finish the tournament at 16-under 270 -- one stroke better than David Duval (69) and J.B. Holmes (71).

Johnson's win was set up when Duval and Holmes both failed to birdie the par-five closing hole. Johnson blasted a drive on 18 and easily got within range for the birdie after his second shot landed in a greenside bunker.

Johnson came out of the sand and sank the birdie putt to become the first player since Tiger Woods to win a tournament in each of his first three years on tour, and the fifth player to successfully defend a Pebble Beach title.

"I come out and try to win every week," said Johnson. "I had a short putt on the last to win, which is what you always want out here. Fortunately, I made it and held on."
