Ferrero cruises to Brasil Open win

COSTA DO SAUIPE, Brazil, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain cruised to a victory over Lukasz Kubot Sunday, winning the clay-court Brasil Open.

Ferrero methodically dismantled the Pole, hammering him 6-1, 6-0 in an hourlong match at Costa do Sauipe, Brazil to take his first title of the year.

Ferrero took 56 of the 80 total points in winning only his second final since 2003.

Kubot, playing in his second career final, was seeking to become the first Pole to take an ATP World Tour title since Wojtek Fibak won the WCT/Chicago event in 1982.
