WHISTLER, British Columbia, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Anastazia Kuzmina of Slovakia won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in the women's 7.5-kilometer biathlon sprint.
It was the first Winter Olympic gold medal for Slovakia. Kuzmina missed one of the 10 targets, forcing her to ski a 150-meter penalty lap. But her skiing speed was enough to carry her to victory.
