Olympic Medal: Normal Hill Ski Jumping

WHISTLER, British Columbia, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Simon Ammann of Switzerland won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in normal hill ski jumping.

It was the first gold medal awarded at the Vancouver Games and went to a jumper won both the normal hill and large hill competitions in Salt Lake City eight years ago.

Adam Malysz of Poland took the silver medal and pre-event favorite Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria took the bronze. Schlierenzauer rallied from seventh place after the opening round of jumping to finish third.
