PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Micheal Eric and Ryan Brooks combined for 37 points Saturday, keying No. 21 Temple's 78-56 rout of Rhode Island.
Eric scored 19, Brooks added 18 and Lavoy Allen contributed 17 points and seven rebounds for Temple (20-5, 8-2 A-10), which jumped out to a quick 18-8 lead and never looked back while outscoring Rhode Island 50-14 from the lane.
Ramone Moore scored 12 points for the Owls, who set a school record by shooting 71.4 percent from the floor.
Temple led by nine points in the first half, using a 17-4 run to put the game away. Eric put up eight points during the skein, and capped it off by hitting a jump shot for a 41-19 advantage.
The Rams (19-5, 7-4) were led by Akeem Richmond and Delroy James, who each scored 11.
