PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Defending champion Dustin Johnson shot a 2-under 68 Friday that put him in a six-way tie at the top after 36 holes of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Johnson was at 10-under for two rounds, tied with Paul Goydos, Alex Cejka, Bruce Molder, Matt Jones and J.B. Holmes.
Former world No. 1 David Duval, hoping for a breakthrough week that will start to rebuild his career, was at 9-under.
Johnson played Friday at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club, which has a par of 70. The other two courses used in the tournament -- Spyglass Hill and the Pebble Beach Golf Links – have a par of 72.
Two-time British Open champion Padraig Harrington shot a 67 at Pebble Beach and was tied at 8-under with D.J. Trahan and Alex Prugh.
Phil Mickelson was tied for 11th at 7-under following a 67 at Spyglass Hill.
Johnson is coming off a third-place finish at last week's PGA Tour stop at the Riviera Country Club. That event was won by Steve Stricker, who is not competing this week.
