NHL: Carolina 4, Buffalo 3 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Sergei Samsonov's goal 1:47 into overtime Thursday produced a 4-3 Carolina victory over Buffalo.

The Hurricanes got to the extra session with goals by Brandon Sutter, Ray Whitney and Stephane Yelle. Sutter also collected a pair of assists giving him a career-high three points.

Manny Legace made 30 saves for Carolina.

The Sabres got two goals from Derek Roy and one from Jochen Hecht. Ryan Miller came up with 31 saves.

Carolina has won four straight and Buffalo has lost six in a row.
