NHL: Montreal 5, Pittsburgh 3

MONTREAL, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Two goals by Brian Gionta helped carry the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday.

Gionta also notched an assist in the Canadiens' third consecutive victory.

Tomas Plekanec, Scott Gomez and Mathieu Darche also scored for Montreal. Jaroslav Halak finished with 18 saves.

Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was taken out of the game in the third period after giving up four goals on 28 shots. Brent Johnson gave up a goal on four shots to finish up the game.

In the third period, Montreal scored three times in 3 1/2-minute span to take a 5-1 lead.

Gionta's goal at 10:47 of the period welcomed Johnson to the contest. His first goal came midway through the second period to put Montreal ahead 2-1.
