
BOSTON, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Pavol Demitra scored the tying goal late in the third period Saturday and added the decisive shootout goal in Vancouver's 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.
Demitra beat Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask on a backhander for the only goal of the shootout to give the Canucks their eighth win in their last 10 games.
Roberto Luongo turned in 41 saves for the Canucks. Mason Redmond accounted for the other Vancouver goal.
Zdeno Chara and Michael Ryder scored the Boston goals. Rask had 29 saves on 31 shots as the Bruins slipped to 1-9-4 since Jan. 5.
Boston jumped to a 2-0 on power-play goals by Chara at 1:56 of the first period and Ryder at 14:20.
After Raymond made it 2-1 in the third period, Demitra drilled the puck past Rask from just inside the blue line to tie the contest with 4:42 left in regulation.
