COL BKB: Cornell 90, Yale 71

ITHACA, N.Y., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Jon Jaques scored 17 points Friday and No. 25 Cornell celebrated its appearance in the national rankings by rolling over Yale 90-71.

The move into the Top 25 in the poll of basketball coaches marked the first national ranking for an Ivy League school in a decade.

Cornell won its seventh straight game and extended its home conference winning streak to 19. The Big Red improved to 19-3 for the season and to 5-0 in conference play. Princeton is also unbeaten in four league games thanks to a 56-53 win over Harvard Friday.

Jeff Foote, Louis Dale and Ryan Wittman each scored 15 for Cornell, which will have the first of its two meetings with Princeton next week.

Yale (8-14, 2-3) was led by Alex Zampier with 11.
