LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Dustin Brown put Los Angeles in front with 5:32 left in a wild third period Thursday and the Kings went on to produce a historic 6-4 win over Anaheim.
Los Angeles let a three-goal lead disappear, but produced two late goals to equal a franchise record with its eighth straight victory. It marked the third time in team history the Kings have won eight in a row.
Jack Johnson scored on a slapshot 1:44 into the third period, giving the Kings a 4-1 cushion.
Anaheim, however, came up with goals from Troy Bodie, Matt Beleskey and Ryan Carter in a span of 6:24 to tie it 4-4 before the halfway point of the third period.
Brown then gave the Kings the lead again with a wrist shot and Anze Kopitar added a power-play goal with 27 seconds remaining.
Jonathan Quick got the win despite allowing the four goals. He had to make just 18 saves. Jonas Hiller coughed up all six goals and stopped 25 shots in the loss.
The Kings will try for their ninth straight win on Saturday when they host Detroit.
Los Angeles added to a series of streaks extended in the NHL Thursday. Washington won its 12th straight game, Ottawa captured its 11th in a row and Boston lost its ninth consecutive contest.
