
SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Miikka Kiprusoff allowed a second-period goal Friday and needed to make just 12 saves in bringing Calgary a 2-1 victory over Florida.
The Flames, who recently endured a nine-game losing streak, have won back-to-back contests for the first time in a month.
Mark Giordano broke a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal, coming with 2:42 remaining in the second period. Ales Kotalik also scored on the power play with only 10 seconds left in the opening frame.
Florida has scored a mere 10 goals over its last nine games and has lost five of them. Dennis Seidenberg had the lone score for the Panthers.
Tomas Vokoun stopped 40 shots in taking the loss.
Calgary's Jarome Iginla played in his 1,000th NHL game and teammate Daymond Langkow took part in his 999th.
