BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson scored twice in the third period Wednesday, leading the surging Ottawa Senators to a 4-2 win at Buffalo, their 10th straight.

The right wing snapped a 2-2 tie with his 15th goal this season at the 19-minute mark of the third, then scored his 16th into an empty net with 23 seconds left in regulation.

Jason Spezza also scored two goals and assisted on Alfredsson's 16th.

Ryan Shannon had two assists, while net-minder Brian Elliott was credited with making 34 saves on 36 shots for the Senators, who have not lost since Jan. 12.

Buffalo's goals were scored in the third by Andrej Sekera (3) and Tim Connolly (14).

Connolly also assisted on Sekera's goal.

Jason Pominville had two assists, and goalie Ryan Miller was beaten three times on 37 shots in the Sabres' sixth loss in their last eight contests.
