Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
EDMONTON, Alberta, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Jean-Francois Jacques and Marc Pouliot each had a goal and assist for the Edmonton Oilers, who beat Carolina 4-2 Monday to end a 13-game winless streak.
Oilers goalie Jeff Deslauriers turned away 33 shots, 15 in a scoreless third period.
Gilbert Brule and Sam Gagner got the other goals for Edmonton, which is 1-11-2 in its last 14 games.
Andrew Alberts and Jussi Jokinen scored for the Hurricanes, who had won their previous four contests.
Carolina goalie Cam Ward was credited with 23 saves.
