BATON ROUGE, La., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- New Orleans Saints fans are free to display their "Who Dat" cheer, but not on products licensed by the NFL, Louisiana state and league officials said Monday.

The NFL had sent cease-and-desist orders to some T-shirt makers, demanding they stop selling items that display the rallying cry, but Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said the league had abandoned claims of copyright infringement, Legal Newsline reported.

"This one just got a little out of hand," Caldwell said after a conference call with NFL officials.

The Saints and Indianapolis Colts meet in the Super Bowl Sunday in Miami.

The "Who Dat" rallying cry and a fleur-de-lis symbol often associated with the New Orleans team were discussed by Caldwell and league officials.

"We appear to be in perfect agreement," Caldwell said.

"People can use 'Who Dat' all they want if it doesn't include NFL and Saints trademarks," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a report in the Washington Post.
