NBA: New Orleans 123, Golden State 110

OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Chris Paul led the way with 38 points Wednesday and the New Orleans Hornets easily held off a Golden State comeback bid to defeat the Warriors 123-110.

The Hornets led by 21 points heading into the fourth quarter and eventually won their second in a row to climb out of the cellar of the Southwest Division. New Orleans moved into fourth place ahead of Houston and is only five games behind division-leading Dallas.

Golden State closed its deficit to 10 points in the final period before its comeback ran out of steam.

Paul made 14-of-19 shots from the field and New Orleans hit 52 percent of its shots. Marcus Thornton added 18 and David West had 17.

The Warriors were led by Chris Watson with 23.
