COL BKB: Vanderbilt 85, Tennessee 76

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Jermaine Beal made four 3-point shots and scored 25 points Wednesday, carrying No. 23 Vanderbilt to an 85-76 decision over 14th-ranked Tennessee.

The Commodores remained the only team unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play. Vanderbilt has won 10 in a row since falling to Western Kentucky Dec. 11.

Beal made 8-of-12 shots from the field and the Commodores hit 51.9 percent overall. They improved to 16-3 for the season and to 5-0 in the SEC.

A.J. Ogilvy added 12 points, Andre Walker had 11 and both Brad Tinsley and John Jenkins had 10.

Tennessee (15-4, 3-2), the only team to own a victory over second-ranked Kansas, dropped its second straight game. The Volunteers were led by J.P. Prince with 22.

Tennessee had a one-point lead midway through the second half but the Commodores outscored the Volunteers the rest of the way 29-21.
