NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Guard Bobby Brown was traded Tuesday to the Los Angeles Clippers, with the New Orleans Hornets getting a 2014 draft pick in return.
Brown averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 assists over 22 games for New Orleans this season, his second in the NBA. He played for Minnesota and Sacramento last season. He's appeared in 90 NBA games, averaging 5.6 points and 1.8 assists.
The Hornets will receive a conditional second-round draft pick in 2014 in exchange for Brown.
"With today's move, we put ourselves in a position that is under the luxury tax threshold while preserving the ability to maximize our results on the court and keeping our core intact," New Orleans Coach Jeff Bower said.
To make room on the roster for Brown, the Clippers released guard JamesOn Curry, who was on the team under a 10-day contract.
