CNN suspends Martin for Super Bowl tweets
GAINESVILLE, Fla., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- University of Florida football Coach Urban Meyer says he plans to return by March 17, first day of spring practice.
Meyer, 45, announced last month that he was taking a leave of absence because of medical issues. He had not spoken to the media since the Gators' 51-24 rout of Cincinnati Jan. 1 at the 2010 Sugar Bowl.
Originally, Meyer did not announce a definite period of time for his absence but said he believed he'd be coaching next season.
Saturday, he said he would undergo a series of tests next month, and will cut back on his travel during recruiting.
"I'm going to have a series of tests in February to try to figure this thing out," Meyer told reporters.
Following a 32-13 loss to Alabama at the SEC Championship Game, Meyer was hospitalized, treated for dehydration and released. He also has dealt with chest pains.
