Cuche wins Kitzbuehel men's downhill

KITZBUEHEL, Austria, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Didier Cuche of Switzerland won Saturday's downhill at Kitzbuehel by a fraction of a second for his second World Cup win in as many days.

Cuche finished in 1 minute, 53.74 seconds, 0.28 seconds ahead of Andrej Sporn of Slovinia and less than 1 second ahead of third-place Wener Heel of Italy on a day of perfect conditions in Austria.

Cuche has four wins this season, including a first place in Friday's super G.

American veteran Bode Miller placed ninth and has a strong shot at making the U.S. Olympic team, which will be announced after Sunday's slalom.
