Report: Phillips to stay with Cowboys

IRVINE, Texas, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Wade Phillips will remain the coach of the Dallas Cowboys for three more seasons, DallasCowboys.com reported Tuesday.

However, team owner Jerry Jones had yet to have anything to say about the situation publicly.

Phillips guided the Cowboys to the NFC East Division title this season and their first playoff victory in 13 years, though they were eliminated by Minnesota this past weekend. His teams have gone 33-15 with two division crowns overall.

DallasCowboys.com did not cite its sources for its report that Phillips has a three-year deal in place. However, it noted that Jones has strongly indicated he would at least exercise a fourth-year option for 2010 in Phillips' original three-year contract. The Web site said a team spokesman said a season-ending news conference related to team content would be held by week's end.
