Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Dany Heatley's two goals led a 46-shot San Jose attack and the Sharks dealt Calgary its fifth straight defeat Monday, whipping the Flames 9-1.
San Jose scored three goals in each period, winning for the fourth time in its last five games.
Joe Pavelski, Manny Malhotra, Scott Nichol, Jed Ortmeyer, Ryane Clowe, Devin Setoguchi and Robert Blake registered the other Sharks' goals.
Evgeni Nabokov made 21 saves for San Jose.
Robyn Regehr scored for the Flames.
Starting Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff gave up six goals with 28 saves. Curtis McElhinney came on in the third period and yielded three goals with nine saves.
