PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Ryan Brooks scored a team-high 29 points Saturday, leading No. 21 Temple to a 76-64 Atlantic 10 Conference win over Massachusetts.
Brooks sank 7-of-12 3-pointers and also had three rebounds and four assists.
Temple led 41-30 at the break and started the second half with an 11-2 spurt.
UMass got within 58-51 on Javorn Farrell's 3-pointer with 8:49 remaining, but Temple quickly regained its double-digit margin and cruised home.
Juan Fernandez scored 15 with four assists, Luis Guzman nine with seven assists, while Lavoy Allen added six points and 14 rebounds for the Owls (15-3, 3-0), who have won four in a row.
Anthony Gurley's 20 points and three rebounds led Massachusetts.
Ricky Harris, the only other player in double figures, added 11 points for the Minutemen (7-10, 1-3), who have lost three in a row and five of six.
