NHL: New York Islanders 6, Detroit 0

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Rob Schremp scored a pair of goals and Dwayne Roloson registered a shutout Tuesday to lead the New York Islanders to a 6-0 pasting of Detroit.

Schremp's two-tally performance was the first of his career and sparked the Isles to their first home win against Detroit since 1999. New York got goals and assists from Mark Streit and Bruno Gervais as the Islanders improved to 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

Matt Moulson and Kyle Okposo also scored for New York.

Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard was pulled after giving up three goals on 20 shots. Chris Osgood came in and who was roughed up for the next three tallies on only 11 shots.
