NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Chris Paul converted a 3-point play with 7.6 seconds remaining to put New Orleans in front Friday and the Hornets went on to down New Jersey 103-99.

The Hornets had a 10-point lead with 2 minutes to go, only to fall behind at 99-98 when Courtney Lee made two free throws with 11.5 seconds to play.

Paul then drove past Jarvis Hayes for a layup and was fouled. His free throw put New Orleans in front by two and New Jersey promptly turned it over on an offensive foul called on Yi Jianlian.

David West finished the scoring by hitting two foul shots for the last of his 32 points.

New Orleans was victorious for the fifth straight time, its longest winning streak of the season. Paul scored 11 points and handed out 18 assists.

Lee scored a career-best 28 points to lead New Jersey, which has lost four in a row and remained stuck on an NBA-low three victories for the season.
