Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Wilson Chandler made two free throws with 13 seconds left Thursday, allowing the New York Knicks to fight off Charlotte 97-93.
Wilson scored nine of his season-high 27 points in the fourth quarter, which began with the Knicks trailing by three.
Ronald Murray brought the Bobcats within two by making a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining. Murray promptly fouled Chandler, whose two foul shots produced the final points of the game.
A missed 3-point try by Boris Diaw ensured the New York victory.
The Knicks won their third straight, getting 22 points from David Lee and 17 from Danilo Gallinari.
Charlotte, which had a three-game winning streak halted, was led by Stephen Jackson with 26.
