BEREA, Ohio, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Eric Mangini will return as Cleveland Browns coach for the 2010 season, team

President Mike Holmgren says.

Mangini went 5-11 in 2009, his first season in the post.

Cleveland went 1-7 before George Kokinis, a friend of Mangini, was fired as general manager in early November. But the team built a four-game winning streak at season's end.

"Over the past few weeks, Eric and I have had a chance to talk on a number of occasions, including our meetings over the last two days," Holmgren said in a statement.

"I feel good about the things we did," Mangini told the Akron Beacon Journal.

ESPN reported Mangini has three years remaining on a contract that pays him $3.9 million per year.

A major off-season decision will be placating premier kick returner Joshua Cribbs, who was insulted by Cleveland's latest contract offer and wants to be traded.
