

ASHBURN, Va., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins introduced their new head football Coach Mike Shanahan at a news conference Wednesday at team headquarters in Ashburn, Va.
Shanahan, the top candidate to replace the fired Jim Zorn, agreed to a 5-year contract worth a reported $7 million annually.
Shanahan, 57, who won two Super Bowls in 14 seasons with the Denver Broncos, also will be Washington's executive vice president for football operations.
He and recently hired General Manager Bruce Allen will combine on player personnel decisions.
"We will work together," Shanahan said at about his intended relationship with Allen. "I know Bruce will not agree with me on a lot of things and that's what I was looking for. There is a lot of history here and I'm looking forward to coaching this team and looking forward to winning here."
Shanahan compiled a 138-86 regular-season record in Denver with three AFC West Division titles.
