
MOBILE, Ala., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Andrew Aguila's fifth field goal of the game, a 37-yarder in the second overtime Wednesday, gave Central Michigan a 44-41 win over Troy in the GMAC Bowl.
Both sides scored a touchdown in the first overtime, but Central Michigan blocked a field goal try by Michael Taylor in the second. Aguila then came through with his winning kick to give the Chippewas a 12-2 record.
The first 12 Central Michigan points came on Aguila field goals and the Chippewas took a 34-31 lead when Dan LeFevour hit Bryan Anderson with a 4-yard pass with 1:22 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Taylor forced overtime by making a 46-yard field goal with 37 seconds to go.
LeFevour completed 33-of-55 passes for 395 yards and he carried nine times for 57 yards.
Antonio Brown gained 178 receiving yards for Central Michigan and returned a kickoff 95 yards for a score.
Troy's Levi Brown was 31-of-56 passing for 387 yards and a touchdown. The Trojans finished 9-4.
The game was the next-to-last bowl contest of the season. The final game, which will decide the national championship, will be played in the Rose Bowl Thursday between Texas and Alabama.
