KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Wayne Chism led six players in double-figures Wednesday and No. 15 Tennessee overcame a reduced roster to defeat Charlotte 88-71.

Chism scored 18 points, Scotty Hopson had 17 and Bobby Maze delivered 13 in helping the Volunteers (11-2) win their third straight.

It was the first outing for Tennessee since Tyler Smith, Cameron Tatum, Melvin Goins and Brian Williams were arrested on drug and gun charges last Friday. The school has suspended all of them indefinitely.

Charlotte (10-4) was paced by Dijuan Harris with 16.

Tennessee built a 51-29 halftime lead, but Charlotte began the second half on a 23-7 run. The Volunteers secured the victory by scoring nine straight points en route to as much as a 20-point cushion down the stretch.
