NHL: San Jose 4, Edmonton 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Doug Murray and Patrick Marleau each had a goal and an assist in San Jose's 4-1 win over Edmonton Saturday.

Evgeni Nabokov stopped 22-of-23 shots for the Sharks, who also had goals from Dany Heatley and Jamie McGinn en route to their fifth consecutive home victory.

Robert Nilsson scored the lone goal for the Oilers, who lost for the ninth time in their last 10 games. Jeff Deslauriers faced 27 shots.

McGinn and Murray scored 4 minutes apart to give San Jose a 2-0 lead after one period. Heatley notched the third Sharks goal 43 seconds into the second period.

Nilsson scored at 4:06 to make it 3-1. Marleau made it 4-1 with 6:28 remaining in the second period.

Nabokov stopped the next nine shots in the second period and all seven Edmonton shots in the third.
