Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24


BRISBANE, Australia, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Rain forced postponement Sunday of men's singles matches in the season-opening Brisbane International tennis tournament.
The event is considered a warm-up for the first major of the season, the Australian Open, which begins Jan. 18 in Melbourne.
The rained-out matches will be played Monday: Seventh-seeded Jeremy Chardy of France goes against. Colombia's Alejandro Fall, No 8 Tomaz Bellucci of Brazil takes on Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina and Philipp Petzschner of Germany meets Marc Gicquel of France.
Top-seeded Andy Roddick of the United States is among others who will play Monday. Roddick plays Australia's Peter Luczak.
