KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Coach Bruce Pearl will indefinitely suspend four University of Tennessee basketball players arrested Friday on drug and weapons charges, CBSSports.com reported.
The Web site said an anonymous source confirmed the indefinite suspensions of Cameron Tatum, Tyler Smith, Melvin Goins and Brian Williams. They were arrested Friday morning after the car they were in was stopped for speeding in Knoxville, police said.
Police said a search of the car, a rental, turned up two guns, one a handgun with an altered serial number, a bag of marijuana and an open container of alcohol.
All four players average at least 16 minutes per game, and Smith is the Volunteers' second-leading scorer, averaging 11.7 points per contest.
Three University of Tennessee football players were arrested in November on armed robbery charges.
