COL FB: Penn State 19, LSU 17

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Collin Wagner's fourth field goal Friday boosted ninth-ranked Penn State to a 19-17 win over No. 13 LSU at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Wagner's 21-yarder followed a 12-play, 65-yard drive and erased a 17-16 deficit with 57 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Daryll Clark passed for 216 yards with one touchdown. Andrew Quarless caught eight passes for 88 yards for the Nittany Lions (11-2), who finished with a three-game winning streak.

LSU's Jordan Jefferson passed for 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Brandon LaFell scored once on five receptions for 87 yards. Stevan Ridley also scored a touchdown.

Josh Jasper kicked a field goal, while Terrance Toliver added six receptions for 81 yards for the Tigers (9-4), who lost two of their final three games.

Penn State held the ball nearly 20 minutes longer than the Tigers.
