COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- David Legwand scored just 28 seconds into overtime Thursday to give the Nashville Predators a 2-1 decision over Columbus.
The Blue Jackets had a 1-0 lead going into the third, but Andreas Thuresson scored the first goal of his NHL career to tie it and Legwand wasted no time producing the game-winner in the extra period.
Joe Ward grabbed the puck to the right of the Columbus goal and fed it to Legwand, who fired a quick wrist shot past Mathieu Garon. It was Nashville's fifth straight win over Columbus.
Thuresson played in his 14th game since being called up from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.
Dan Ellis got the win with 31 saves.
Garon stopped 27-of-29 shots. The Predators went 2-1 on a three-game road trip.
