NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Simon Gagne's hat trick and Michael Leighton's shutout Wednesday keyed the Philadelphia Flyers' 6-0 romp over the New York Rangers.
Gagne scored twice in the second period (unassisted, power play) and once in the third. He also had one assist in a 4-point effort.
Blair Betts, Danny Briere and Claude Giroux also scored.
Leighton stopped 22 shots, while both Jeff Carter and Mike Richards had two assists for the Flyers, who have won the first four games on their six-game road trip.
Their next contest is Friday against Boston at the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park.
New York's Henrik Lundqvist gave up three goals on 11 first-period shots. Backup Chad Johnson yielded the other three goals on 20 shots for the Rangers, who have lost two in a row after a four-game winning streak.
