
NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- David West helped fight off a Miami rally by scoring six points in the final minute Wednesday, boosting New Orleans to a 95-91 win over the Heat.
The Hornets took a 14-point lead into the fourth quarter only to see Miami get back in the game with a 10-point run early in the period.
After Quentin Richardson's 3-point shot with 12 seconds left got Miami within two, Devin Brown made two free throws for the final points of the game. Daequan Cook missed a 3-point try for Miami with 8 seconds to play, ending the Heat's hopes.
West, who scored a career-high 44 points Tuesday in a loss to Houston, tallied 21 Wednesday to go with 10 rebounds. Emeka Okafor added 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Dwyane Wade led Miami with 22 points and was one of six Heat players in double figures. Miami had a three-game winning streak snapped.
